The first Annual Aiken Charity Horse Show wrapped up it's first week of competition this past Sunday. The event took place at "Bruce's Field" at the Aiken Horse Park in Aiken, SC May 4-8 and marked the Aiken Horse Park Foundation's inaugural charity event. The Child Advocacy Center of Aiken, the Aiken Equine Rescue, and Danny and Ron's Rescue are the three beneficiaries of the 2016 edition of the Charity Show and will benefit from funds generated during the event.
The week brought a cool breeze and sunny skies that were all very welcomed by exhibitors and spectators alike, as well as a rainbow or two that seemed to smile down on the grounds. The Aiken Horse Park Foundation was established in June of 2013 and it's mission is to promote Aiken's equestrian way of life and to encourage the communities civic, educational, and charitable endeavors. The field, aptly named "Bruce's Field" is named after late founder Bruce Duchossois whose goal and vision was to save the the land from residential development and also grow it into South Carolina's premiere equestrian facility while also maintaining it's historic character. Bruce's Field and the Aiken Horse Park are committed to holding the kind of events that Bruce himself cherished, an old fashioned venue with character and integrity with an intimate feel that offers something for everyone.
Hospitality was held every day for all to enjoy as well as a groom's breakfast on Saturday and a brunch on Sunday. Family activities were held Saturday evening during the $25,000 Grand Prix. Face painting, a balloon artist, and pony rides were available to all as well as vendors offering snow cones and cotton candy for the kids.
